summers before

i saw a
shooting star
as i drove
in my car
about
I-75
not a pace
or time
but a path
through the divide
of atlantic
and gulfside

so i held
my breath
closed my eyes
have faith in nothing
but what i see
and i’m not sure
why…

as i careened
off course
i found myself
surrounded by
an unseen force
as it pulled me in
all i felt
was warmth
back to a summer day
in 1994
when god evened the score
warrants issued with my name
seek, locate and detain
save his live
take the other’s in vain

as I peeled my eyes
open wide
everything was realized
i’m just a vessel
bound with rhyme
no one will
ever understand
but i’ll be
just fine
must make
the best of my life
since so
many others
were denied

i’ll never understand
but i’ll be
just fine
as a riddle
woven into
the fabric of time

Ice in the fire

off i went
to meet my fate
coaxed her in
with live bait
no pause now
can’t hesitate
made my plans
set my traps
placed a bet
fingers crossed…
will she, go for it?
let me tell you
i don’t believe in luck
and i don’t have faith
so i hold my breath
and patiently wait…

although it wasn’t cold
i could feel her shiver
our lips melted
like ice in the fire
i couldn’t help myself
so my hands wandered
memorizing all of her curves
as i slowly inhaled her
my world…
started to spin
lungs froze
as the air grew thin
thinking seems so loud
can’t stop it now
is that my brain
screaming
is this me dreaming

let me tell you
i don’t believe in luck
or believing
in those that
excuse me for breathing
yeah i’m good at
suppressing
so i pushed it back in
patiently waiting…

Truth is

the truth is
lies are for pussies
shivering in
darkness
molded
with their breath

the truth is
fear of weakness
is no excuse
when fear itself
is erased by
truth

the truth is
breakers of promises
deserve no glint
of forgiveness
and i of that
should reap
no greater than this

the truth is
god’s princess
i have loved you
more than anything
since the day
our eyes first met

11th

the 11th day
men laid to rest
weary arms
and mustard gas
a day of calm
of armistice
bringing peace
to the unrest

the 11th month
the war to end all wars
shook off oblivion
for man to endure
leaders converged
and forgave the score
for a future of brethren
echoed shore to shore

the 11th hour
treaties were signed
foxholes emptied
no more frontlines
the western front becomes
just a passing in time
a moment of remembrance
for the 21 million lives

at the 11th hour
on the 11th day
of the 11th month
forget this not
less we plan to repeat
where history failed
and men became meat
for machines of war to feed
